Dowse Projects was Project Manager on the 45,000m2 integrated fitout of the Sirius Building for the Commonwealth Department of Health in Woden. In addition to the delivery of the fitout project which involved delivery of a rolling schedule of design documentation to a demanding schedule, team members completed the development of Health’s National Accommodation Standards as well as the development of the Project Fitout Brief and Strategy prior to commencement of design. The building was completed several months ahead of schedule and millions of dollars under budget with good quality of construction.

The original commission was expanded substantially to included a strategic analysis of Health national property portfolio and amongst other initiatives, resulted in advice to consolidate 11 leases in different buildings in the Woden, ACT area into the one building. We provided a great deal of financial analysis and options analysis, contributed towards the preparation of a comprehensive business case and cost benefit analysis, prepared a submission to the Public Works Committee, and advised Health on the procurement options it had.

At the conclusion of the project we were highly commended by the Secretary of Health at that time, Jane Halton, for the strategic advice and project delivery. Our services extended over almost five years and saved the Commonwealth $10’s of million in property operating expenses over the term of the new lease.
